We experienced an incredible weekend, full of emotion, where Ascendum was once again a sponsor of the event and the CE Dealer Team, in association with Volvo CE, official track construction partner. The CE Dealer Team also obtained a great result, adding its third consecutive podium in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, as Niclas Grönholm took second place in the penultimate round of the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit.

A unique experience for all our clients

It was a memorable weekend for the CE Dealer Team, but also for the approximately 400 guests from Volvo CE and Ascendum, for whom the experience was much more than just a race. They had the opportunity to participate in the different experiences prepared for them, highlighting the great participation of Spanish clients, the Ascendum team and technical schools invited to the event. Guests were able to enjoy:

• An exhibition of E-mobility machinery where visitors got up close and personal with the new Volvo electric machines.
• Seminars “Change Starts Here” and “Going Electric”, which served as an introduction to the electrical world and the challenges posed by this change.
• A leisure area for guests that included a mini-excavator sandbox specially prepared for children and the Excavator Challenge, which one of our clients won.
• Ascendum Spain Technical Service personnel also participated in a VIP experience where they met the technical team of the CE Dealer Team.
• Visit the Paddock to meet the CE Dealer Team, the drivers Klara and Niclas, and also to see up close the electric cars that competed in the test.
• Experience ride-along track with veteran rally driver Marcus Grönholm to experience the excitement felt inside a racing car.

The combination of the Volvo and Ascendum work teams made this an unforgettable event for attendees and presented the WRX Championship as the perfect platform to present the world of electromobility in construction machinery.

Barcelona test results

This Spanish double test on the classic Barcelona-Catalonia F1 circuit was the first all-electric world RX event, where all the cars that competed in the different categories throughout the weekend were 100% electric.

Niclas Grönholm finished second on Saturday and took his third consecutive podium in World RX. He is now third in the standings heading into the final round, just nine points off second place in the drivers’ championship. Klara Andersson fought back on Sunday to secure her third appearance in a World RX final, finishing fourth ahead of her teammate Niclas. The Swedish driver occupies seventh place in the standings, six points behind sixth.

​​​​​​​The CE Dealer Team is in third place in the team standings ahead of the final round, which will take place in Germany on November 12-13.

This sponsorship shows a very positive balance for Ascendum

After our presence in Montalegre (Portugal), the Barcelona race demonstrated that the WRX Championship is a perfect event to strengthen ties with customers and accelerate the change towards electric mobility.

​​​​​​​This was the penultimate race of this 2022 championship and Ascendum’s second as official sponsor of the event. This is the first year of a commitment that Ascendum made for 3 years and an extremely positive experience, given the incredible feedback we are receiving from customers, Volvo CE and the Ascendum teams.

It has also been a unique opportunity to present our shared vision of a more sustainable future to our customers and, therefore, contribute to accelerating the electrical transformation in the construction equipment industry.
